118 missions come in on their own

Integration with the AREU Lombardy (EMMA) missions web service

The rescue missions your organisation runs under agreement with the 118 emergency service enter AppToMe without retyping anything: outcome, reason, place, vehicle, kilometres, times, legs and crew, exactly as the dispatch centre records them. Every mission is placed next to the AppToMe shift and crew, and when something does not add up, it tells you.

What AREU is, what EMMA is

The Lombardy 118 dispatch centre and its information system

AREU is the Regional Emergency Agency of Lombardy: it coordinates medical rescue through four dispatch centres (SOREU Bergamo, Como, Milano, Pavia). EMMA is the system the centres use to run missions and identify partner organisations and vehicles.

AREU offers partner organisations a web service with the details of the missions carried out in the last 60 days. AppToMe queries it every hour with your organisation's credentials and keeps the archive forever.

What the integration does

A read-only archive of missions inside the Activities module.

  • Imports missions automatically, every hour. Crew and kilometres that AREU updates the following day are realigned on their own.
  • "118 missions" tab in Activities: list filterable by date and vehicle, colour-coded severity codes, outcome, kilometres, reconciliation status at a glance.
  • Mission detail: place with map position, legs in sequence (departure, arrival, hospital), crew with role. Patient data sits in a separate section and every access is logged.
  • Reconciliation with shift and crew: the mission is attached to the vehicle's shift and compared with who was on duty. Vehicle without a shift, rescuer not on shift, mission outside shift hours: every anomaly is flagged with a note.
  • Excel and CSV export of the list, PDF print of a single mission.
  • AREU data stays AREU's: nobody edits it in AppToMe, the dispatch centre remains the source of truth.

What it looks like

App screens with demo data.

AppToMe 118 missions tab: list of missions with reconciliation status, severity codes, outcome and kilometres
The 118 missions tab: one row per mission, with the status dot (reconciled, with anomalies, no shift).
Mission detail in AppToMe: crew, Show patients button and Reconciliation block with one anomaly
The detail: crew declared to the dispatch centre, patients behind a button with logged access, reconciliation with the shift and its anomalies.

Who it is for

For Lombardy organisations providing rescue services under agreement with 118.

  • Red Cross committees, ANPAS public assistance associations, Misericordie and other volunteer organisations with rescue vehicles under agreement with AREU.
  • Those who check services: managers and office staff who today compare the dispatch centre's report with shifts by hand.
  • Those who report: the exportable archive is the basis for agreements, statistics and audits.

How to activate it

Four steps, nothing to install.

  1. Ask AREU for the missions web service credentials for your organisation: service address, username and password.
  2. In AppToMe, from Activities → Settings → AREU integration, enter address, SOREU and credentials and enable the integration.
  3. On each rescue vehicle's card, enter the EMMA code the dispatch centre uses to identify it.
  4. Within an hour you see the missions of the last 60 days; from then on the archive updates itself and reconciliation runs automatically.

The integration is visible only to staff with permission to view activities. Volunteers keep filling in activities as before.

Frequently asked questions

Do missions create activities or trip sheets automatically?
No, by design. An activity is what the volunteer fills in, a mission is what AREU reports: they sit side by side and are compared, but never overlap. No data entered by volunteers is ever overwritten.
Who can see patient data?
Only those with permission to view activities, and every access is logged with date and user. Clinical data that AREU no longer transmits does not appear.
What does reconciliation flag?
Only inconsistencies on shift and crew: a vehicle with no shift overlapping the mission, a 118 crew member missing from the shift, a person on shift missing from the crew, a mission beyond the shift limits. Kilometres, outcomes and clinical times are AREU data: shown, not judged.
How much history is imported?
On first run, the 60 days AREU makes available. From then on missions stay in AppToMe with no time limit, even after they disappear from the AREU service.
Does it work outside Lombardy?
Today the integration talks to the AREU Lombardy service. If your regional dispatch centre offers a similar service, write to us: we will look at it together.
